Prayers for a New Education Year

The calendar is a funny thing. It has different points of departure, remembrance and beginning. For teachers, September begins a new year.

By mid-August, we are looking toward the fall – new beginnings, new programs, new ideas. A fresh start. Ground your teacher training in prayer and reflection, bible study and the sharing of stories. Remember, it is all about the relationships that will be formed in the coming months as we gather to be formed in Word, Spirit, bread & wine.

  • Everliving God, whose will it is that all should come to you through your Son Jesus Christ: Inspire our witness to him, that all may know the power of his forgiveness and the hope of his resurrection ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen. (BCP p. 816)
  • Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (Proper 28, BCP p. 236)
  • Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom: Enlighten by your Holy Spirit those who teach and those who learn, that, rejoicing in the knowledge of your truth, that they may worship you and serve you from generation to generation; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (23. Collect For Education, BCP p. 2610)
